  • You can now buy Coravin at Wine Please! 25/06/2018

Have you ever looked at a bottle of wine and thought... I'd love a glass of this but I don't think we will get through the whole bottle tonight. Or even thought, this wine would be great with our entree but won't go with the main. Or, perhaps you want to have a glass of something nice by yourself - but not a whole bottle. You open something different and it's great, but not the wine you really wanted. Good news... now you can enjoy a glass of any wine at any time, from any bottle, without compromising the rest. Introducing the Coravin Wine System to Wine Please.

    Coravin _Intro _Bundle

The CORAVIN™ Wine System gives you the freedom to pour and enjoy a glass of wine from any bottle at any time. By inserting a medical grade needle through the cork and injecting 99.9% pure argon gas, the bottle is pressurized and wine is being pushed out. When finished, the needle is pulled out and the cork reseals due to its elasticity, no air has gone into the bottle and the remaining wine can be preserved and continue to age. The Coravin™ Model Two is the best-in-class tool that protects your wine from oxidation using Coravin™ proprietary technology that leaves the cork in place while the wine flows.

There are two Coravin options at Wine Please, including the Coravin Model Two and a Coravin Model Two Intro Bundle which provides excellent value.

We think this is an amazing asset for your cellar and will make your wine collecting experience so much more exciting. Not to mention save precious wine from being wasted. A fantastic gift or personal investment and available now in the Wine Store.

  • The world's most prized wine 02/04/2014

    Pinot Noir

    pronounced Pin-no-nwah

If you’re a typical Australian red wine drinker you’re probably accustomed to ‘big reds’ such as our fabulous Barossa Shiraz, Coonawarra Cab Sav and Margaret River Cab Merlot blends. It can be difficult then to see the appeal of the Pinot Noir. What is this pansy wine…? It’s light red, almost translucent and when you sniff and taste the Pinot it may be quite subtle. In fact, when sniffing and tasting Pinot Noir you might even have to put some thought into it! Goodness. But little did you know that Pinot Noir is the most highly prized wine in the world. And it’s about time we explored this intriguing variety!

Earlier in the year we went to the Stonier Pinot event in Sydney and fell even further in love with this fragrant and lively wine than we already were. Once you've tried a Pinot or two it is easy to pick up on the familiar characteristics such as strawberry, vanilla, roses, cherry, cola, licorice or cloves. Don’t rush it, let the wine sit in your mouth for a second and have a think about it. Here's our favourite Pinot Noirs from the Wine Store

     Pinot Noir Bottles

Stonier - Mornington Peninsula Victoria, Riposte – Adelaide Hills S.A., Kayena Tamar Ridge – Tasmania,

Cloudy Bay – Marlborough New Zealand, Freycinet – Freycinet Tasmania.

Pinot Noir is best suited to cold climate growing conditions, with the Burgundy region in France being the most famous Pinot Noir region in the world. We have included the world famous producer  Faiveley in our Store. They create delicious Pinots - a great opportunity to treat yourself to a mouth-watering Burgundy.

In addition, we make some gorgeous Pinots like the ones above in our very own state of Victoria, the Great Southern region in Western Australia and the wine regions of Tasmania. Across the pond in New Zealand where it is a even cooler still they make lots of Pinots in the Marlborough and Central Otago wine regions which you would have definitely seen on restaurant wine lists.

    Pinot Noir Grapes

One of the most fabulous qualities of Pinot Noir is that is so amazingly versatile with food. While the ‘big reds’ can completely overpower lots of dishes, Pinot Noir doesn’t overwhelm your tastebuds. It is fantastic with Asian dishes, duck or chicken and roast pork. A great red to enjoy with spicy food without feeling as though you may burst into flames. In fact, if you’re at a restaurant and everyone is ordering something different to eat, Pinot Noir is the perfect wine to pick from the wine list as it will go with almost everything.

Autumn is the perfect time to try Pinot or to stock up your wine rack. We have picked only the best for the Wine Store with the delicious Tamar Ridge winning our Wine Club blind tasting against some much pricier Pinots. That is one fantastic drop and a regular dinner date in the WP household.

    Cheers

    Mr & Mrs WP

  • To Speak with a Plumm in your mouth 06/12/2013

Plumm Box      Fancy but not full-of-it wine glasses       Plumm Logo

We are completely in love with the Plumm wine glass range. This Melbourne brand is the first Australian company to make varietal specific wine glasses - you know, the ones that match the type of wine you're drinking. And believe us, it really does improve the smell and flavour of your wine... but how many different shapes do you really need?

We have the entire range of another brand of varietal specific glasses, but do you think we can ever find the 'perfect' one when we go to pour a wine? No. There are millions of them and they're in cupboards all over the house. There is no doubt that a wine tastes so much better out of the right glass, but could this process of finding the right glass whilst our guests wait patiently *thinking we're being total wine ponces* please be a little easier!

Enter Plumm. We've fallen hard for these gorgeous glasses in their beautiful boxes and the fancy but not full-of-it brand personality. Oh and they're Aussie - yay!

"To speak with a plum in your mouth indicates pomp, extravagance and class. To speak with a Plumm in your mouth means simplicity, elegance and glass."

Plumm have worked tirelessly with wine makers, wine judges, sommeliers and wine writers to develop their gorgeous varietal specific glass shapes. And excitingly their research shows that 5 glass types are all you need!

     - Plumm Glassware in the Wine Store -

In their own words "Plumm crystal wine glasses are functional, practical and beautiful and represent great value for money. They are worthy of any special occasion, yet also allow the enjoyment of premium glassware on a daily basis"

And that is what we're all about at Wine Please, great wine and great glassware as part of your everyday life.

    Cheers! Mr & Mrs WP
